My uncle, a Catholic priest, wrote liturgical music for choirs, one of which I was a member in grade school. He gave me some tips on singing and writing inspirational music, which resulted in my first vocal composition, a version of the Our Father in about 1964.
Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept sacred by man.
Your kingdom must come.
Your will must be done, as in heaven, so then on earth.
Please give us the things we need from day to day.
And forgive us the same way we’ve forgiven our brother
Be thou the guide forever through temptation,
And lead us in the path of your goodness.
For the kingdom, and the power and the glory are yours
Forever and ever. Amen.
